About Gulf Coast Farm

Gulf Coast Farm is a map, not a store and not a delivery service. It shows farms, farmers markets, seafood docks, and farm stores: where each one is, when it is open, and how to get there. You find a place, then you go buy from it directly. Nothing is sold through this site, and there is no charge to be listed.

Where it covers

Coverage is stated as named counties, not a distance from wherever you happen to be standing, because the site does not track your location. Right now that is five counties: Mobile, Baldwin, and Escambia in Alabama, and Escambia and Santa Rosa in Florida. It started in Mobile and Baldwin and is working outward into the neighboring counties and the western Florida panhandle.

Where the listings come from

Every listing records where its information came from and the date it was last checked. You can see both at the bottom of each place’s page. Listings we have not been able to confirm are marked Unconfirmed and left on the map rather than hidden, so you can judge for yourself and call ahead. Hours, seasons, and whether a place is even open this year all change, so treat everything here as a starting point and confirm before you drive out.

What a place shows as ready this month comes from typical Gulf Coast harvest windows, which shift with the weather. The site does not rank places or call anything the best. It tells you what is out there and lets the map do the sorting.

Who runs it

It is built and kept up by one person on the Gulf Coast, by hand, in spare time. That is also why your help matters.
